>> we have a brand new accident on the bay bridge. the cartinez has trouble with a couple of vehicles. it look like the tolls are loading up on the bay bridge. if you are traveling in the westbound direction you will see slow and go traffic. mass transit all run on time as is ace train. no delays out there. here we go at look at san rafael drive coming from santa benicia the headlights are looking light so decent conditions and no crashes or construction out there. >> the latest on the bart negotiations. talks resume this morning while the two biggest bart unions plan a public demonstration this afternoon. all the while, the clock ticks toward a potential second strike. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is at walnut creek bart. >> we have a few days to go but riders have little hope there will be a resolution. people here are preparing and

predicting there will be a strike. we have seen the teams of people going in and out of the negotiations but they say not much is going on inside. the union says there has not been significant progress of wages, pensions, and health care. we could get notice of a strike today if negotiations continue to stall then the unions could issue the 72-hour warning of a strike. they could issue that tonight. that would mean we would see bart workers back on the picket line like any were a month ago. the months say the offer on the table is the best they can do. we may adjustments so everyone sees more money in their pocket. the calculations we have run show that all employees will receive a 1 percent net gain and more if they choose a cheaper medical premium. the utility workers in our union who start out at $42,000 will be

$1,4950 behind. >> last month, the strike results in a long congested miserable commute for people and transportation officials say they are preparing to add extra options with extra buses and ferries and some officials learned a lot from the last strike and will make adjustments. the union is planning a rally today at 5:00 in front of city halt and a strike could happen on monday if negotiations do not go well today. dug the first strike and they are readying extra ferries. commuters are asked to travel off-peak. >> before 6:30 in the morning

traffic 101 from san francisco to sfo a ten-minute commute 880 northbound from 238 to the maze is 14 minutes and 11 minutes and 13 minutes from highway 85 to san jose and walnut creek in the southbound direction is 680 looking slower as cars pile into the 24 interchange. eric and kristen? >> breaking news from the south bay where police are looking if a suspect after a woman was attacked near santa clara university. abc7 news reporter is in santa clara with the latest. matt? >> we are here at the santa clara police department waiting on investigators to give us more information of the incident that took place a block and a half away from santa clara university. here is video from the scene, a woman reporting she was walking from a friend's apartment back to her apartment a few blocks arm and she says a man came up behind her in city plaza park put a knife to her throat and threatened her and she kicked

him and ran home and called police. police arrived and started searching using dogs to track down a suspect. police left the seen at 2:45 and we are trying to confirm but the suspect is still loose and if the person is considered a net to people living in the area around the university. we will update you when we get new details from police. >> matt, thank you. san jose state university police say they have arrested a suspect in the brutal oncampus beating of a 22-year-old man on tuesday night outside the university science building. police are saying little about the man they have arrested but he and the victim do know each other. the two men got in a fight and the suspect slammed the victim's head in the pavement several times. the victim who is not a student is expected to recover. >> negotiateations between bart and two of the largest employee unions coming down to the wire. unions could give passengers 72

cause of a fire that destroyed a home last night. the candle lit the curtains on fire and the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters got there. firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to other homes. crews cleared people from the street, those because of the power lines. >> a student is suing a school district because the administration should have done more to prevent a teacher from molesting students. the 45-year-old joseph martin was put on leave when allegations surfaced he molested a student at the elementary school and says martin was allowed to go back to class and said good by to the students. he cornered an 11-year-old victim and tried to convince him not to report the me lastation. the child's lawyer says officials knew of problems by 2007 but did nothing. mar tip was arrested in june and has been charmed with 91 counts of child molestation involving 11 former students. >> the family of a missing oakland gill says they are not giving up home for her safe return.

the 21-month-old daphne webb disappeared when the father stepped from the car into a store in oakland. there was a vigil yesterday urging the public to come forward. >> i misholding her and hearing her cries and laugh. i am praying she comes back. >> her father did not attend the vigil but the family says he wasn't the focus of the event. an amber alert is active. the case remains the top investigations. >> funeral is held today for a korean war soldier who died 62 years ago at the golden gate national cemetery and buried with full military honors. he was captured in korea in 1951 and thyed in captivity. the remains were identified in may using d.n.a. samples. the coffin arrived on tuesday at the international airport and

here is what is going on as far as our winds, it will be aggressive and frisky along the bay water in the delta starting at 9:00 this morning with an early start and getting up earlier than normal this afternoon until 9:00 p.m. at the coast, we are going to have thursday at 3:00, which started already until friday at 5:00 a.m. and we have the wind at 15- to 25-knots rolling through. and our fastest wind is 12 miles per hour and 15 at concord and 23 in fairfield so the bends have picked up here and that is why the clouds are making the trip across san francisco through the golden gate bridge and to the east bay which is where they are thickest. from mount tamalpais you can see the air is cleaner and dry in the cool breeze keeping the temperatures below average. more clouds tonight so temperatures are not so cold as this morning and it is back to average and high temperatures this weekend. the cloud cover is developing along the east bay more and the lower valleys along our

coastline and across san francisco it will evaporate quickly but notice as we head through the afternoon the clouds will fill in along the coast so a reverse of yesterday. all of us will be clear, though, around the bay and inland by noon. temperatures will start in the south bay and we will barely get to near 80 around morgan hill and gilroy and everyone else in the low to mid-70's and 76 in san jose, and sunnyvale is 72 and on peninsula, low-to-mid 70's and 68 in millbrae, and upper 50's to near 60 along the coast with not quite so were sunshine as yesterday and mid-60's in downtown south san francisco and sausalito as they head in the afternoon, starting in the 40's and low 50's we will end up in the mid-to-upper 70's so quit a warming but never that hot. we will be in the upper 50's along the cost and low 70's along the east bay shoreline and in the east bay valley, mid-70's to low 80's again going to be

cooler-than-average. the temperatures are in the low-to-mid 50's and the best cloud cover is along the coast across san francisco and toward the east bay shoreline. the seven-day outlook shows tomorrow two to six degrees warmer and temperatures will hang out in the upper 50's to low 60's with partly sunny conditions along the coast and mostly sunny in the afternoon and mid-to-upper 70's around the bay. have a good one. leyla gulen? >> we have a crash on highway four traveling this the westbound direction involving a big rig and that is not the only crash we have on highway four but this is on the off-ramp of hillcrest avenue on the shoulder. we are slow making it in the westbound direction at 15 miles per hour to pittsburg. to concord, it will be about 30-minute commute and we have another crash open highway 4 at marsh creek in brentwood. as we continue into concord in the eastboundy along highway four from port chicago highway we have a construction project that will last until 7:00 this
